[ Render — pavilion at dusk ]
Bolted, never welded
Every connection in the pavilion is bolted. No component was cut on site and nothing was glued, so the whole structure could be catalogued, dismantled in four days, and stored for the following season.
The glazing is a single insulated layer set into a steel frame with a warm break, which was the smallest assembly that would hold temperature at −20 °C without a mechanical system running through the night.
Built for its own removal
The foundations are ballasted rather than dug, and the ground under the pavilion was surveyed before and after. Nothing about the site changed permanently, which was the brief’s only fixed requirement.
