Søndergård Concrete House — main view

[ Render — primary facade, full width ]

A single board-marked concrete volume set into the dune line — closed to the wind, opened entirely to the sea.

One wall, two climates

The house is organised around a single load-bearing wall that runs the full length of the plan, dividing served from serving space. To the west it takes the weather; to the east it releases the rooms toward the water. Nothing crosses it that does not need to.

Daylight enters through deep reveals cut into the mass. The openings are few and deliberately unequal — sized to the hour they are meant to catch rather than to a facade rhythm. Across a day the light moves through the plan like a slow tide.

Three materials

Cast concrete, oiled oak, and blackened steel. The palette was fixed before the plan was, and nothing has been added since that does not carry load or carry light. Board marks from the formwork were kept as the only surface treatment.
